Step 3: Marketing & Sales
Welcome to Step 3 of Project Lifestyle Freedom: Marketing & Sales
So far, in the previous steps we’ve talked about:
•Finding Alternative Income Sources – Products & Services
•Your Ideal Customer
•Building a Website
•and how to turn that website into a “Automation System”, a “Marketing Machine”
I’ve told you the story of how I got started in my early 20s, how Building a product was pretty easy, and building a website was also quite simple and straightforward… at least for those of us who have grown up with computers… 🙂
But as you know by now, the first businesses I started failed, and that lead me to start to study Business, Marketing and Sales because that is the area where my business failed
I was not back then able to present my products in such a way that inspired people to buy, the “marketing messages” I tried to compose back then wasn’t really bearing fruit…
When I started my first online business I had no clue about marketing and sales
My “marketing” back then did not make sales, did not generate income, I had just created a product and was hoping that it would sell
I learned that in order to be a doer of your thing, you need to be able to market your thing Decent product + Good marketing = Good results
Perfect product + Poor marketing = Poor results
I learned that if we try to create our marketing from scratch without any experience, or having put some time and effort into learning marketing, we’ll probably go broke long before we figure out how to create marketing that works, because in most cases most people can’t afford to do enough testing to learn, and get insight into what works
“It’s important to learn from your mistakes, but it’s BETTER to learn from other people’s mistakes, and it’s BEST to learn from other peoples successes, it accelerates your own success” – Jim Rhones
So since what I was doing was not working, I started to look at other peoples websites and marketing, I started to study self made multimillionaires, what and how they did what they did online, and I found out that there was a discernible pattern behind what the majority of them did in their marketing, what they were doing, and how they were doing it, I found that whatever they were selling, the process was pretty much the same
So I thought, that if what they did worked so well for them, maybe this way could work for me too, and after all, if I did only 1% as well as the people making millions and millions, that would be well be enough for me to be able to get back to nature, and start living the self sufficiency lifestyle
In this part of PLF, what we are going to cover is sort of the culmination what I’ve learned by studying the marketing of the self made multimillionaires online
I’m no super pro, or marketing master, but I learned that the great marketers “secret weapon” relies of the power of the ‘Swipe File’, which is a collection of messages other successful Copywriters have written
One of the biggest lessons that I’ve learned in Sales and Marketing is one that is completely counter to Product Creation, where inspiration and creativity is key, the lesson about marketing here is this: Avoid Creative Invention
Because there is just SO MUCH GOOD STUFF to model and recycle and put your own spin, your own twist on it
There is no need to try to re-invent the wheel, what we’ve done here is taken decades of other peoples marketing and sales experience and compress it down into something that is easy to do
I’ve researched and studied Sales and Marketing for the last years of my life now, and what I’m about to share now is a blend of a lot of different peoples copywriting and marketing methods, plus my own, all combined and mixed together
It’s sort of like if you were to take pounds and pounds of fruits and veggies and running them through a juicer, discarding all the hard to chew fiber, and delivering the essence, a highly concentrated nutritious, easy to consume juice 🙂
I don’t want to give you a static marketing formula to follow, but rather the ability of how to sell, weather you’re talking on a video, person to person, or in writing
And what is marketing really? Just somehow, in a efficient way, being able to communicate in a way that your customer clearly understands, demonstrate/show that/how you can help
And when you learn how to sell, always remember, that you know that you are not here on this earth to exploit your neighbors to accumulate wealth in order to get material things
“We are all here to learn, to grow, then we return home” – Aboriginal Proverb
So with that said, lets get into Step 3 🙂
